Molcajetes
The words “molcajete” and “tejolote” are Spanish for “mortar and pestle.” These volcanic rock bowls,
originally used by the ancient Aztecs are still used in Mexican cooking to grind spices and make sauces. We use them as a serving bowl for our house specialties: the molcajete mixto and molcajete de mariscos. Molcajetes are served with rice, beans and warm corn tortillas.
